A Sibling Swim Team

Noah and Nellie at the pool

Noah and Nellie both have anxiety issues and struggle with groups and noise. As well as autism, Noah also has dyspraxia which affects his co-ordination. Noah started swimming lessons with Level Water first and it wasn’t long before Nellie wanted to join in too. She initially had a fear of the pool but seeing her brother developing skills in the water, she didn’t want to be left behind.

Watching Noah supporting his sister during the lesson is so incredibly touching. Swimming is strengthening their relationship as well as their confidence. It gives them something to look forward to doing together every week. Nellie is now happy to splash around and swim the length of the pool with her armbands and noodle. Noah has also come a long way and will confidently swim the length of the pool with his armbands.

Mum is so pleased with their progress, their swim teacher, Cheryl and the Level Water programme.

“I would like to say thank you so much for giving my children the chance to learn such a key life skill. Your hard work and fundraising has given Noah and Nellie the chance to thrive and be happy within an inclusive environment. Cheryl has been absolutely fantastic with Noah and Nellie. They thoroughly enjoyed their lessons with her. She is very patient and understanding with them. She has made such a huge difference to their experience with swimming. It's honestly such a great initiative to be involved in! I would love to see more places offer inclusive activities for children of all abilities.”
