Jumping Straight off the Boat

Finley is a Sheffield Wednesday supporter and a social media influencer. Finley is so confident in his swimming ability he jumped off the back of a boat on a family trip. Finley also has cerebral palsy spastic diplegia and uses a wheelchair. His mum never expected him to swim due to his disability, but she felt it was important to learn to turn onto his back if he ever fell into the water. Not only can Finley save himself if he falls in, he can now swim 10m on front & back. An incredible achievement!

Finley’s mum, Hayley couldn’t find anyone willing to teach him because he needed 1-to-1 support. He has now been swimming at Level Water assisted lessons for nearly a year. He’s always loved water and often gets hyper and animated around the pool. Swimming is giving him exercise as well as joy.

Most importantly, swimming is a life-saving skill and now his family know he is safe in the water. He can float and also swim. Everyone should be given this opportunity. We can’t wait to see what Finley will do next. Well done Finley!
