Wild Swim Relays: make it your own
Swim Team at Shepperton in 2024
If you’ve never swum a Wild Swim Relay before, here’s how it works. You can swim in a team of 8, or a team of 1. You can swim more or less than your team mates. You can swim at night if you like or just during the daytime. It’s the most fun and flexible weekend of swimming you will find. Here are the basics:
You swim for an hour and then change over to the next team mate. Don't forget to check in and out with a volunteer.
You can swim in any order, 2 hours in a row if you like. Please check in with a volunteer.
If you get cold, you can get out of the lake, you don’t have to finish your hour. And, you guessed it... check out with a volunteer, we just need to make sure you’re safe.
If you feel unwell at any time, tell a member of our swim safety crew (in the water) or our medical team (on land). Our Level Water crew and volunteers will also be there to support you.
You can come and go as you please, so feel free to arrive late, leave early or even pop home for a nap if you are lucky enough to live close by.
If your team is taking a break please leave your relay wristband with our volunteers so we know where you are.
Every swimmer at our Wild Swim Relay is on their own personal journey. There are no timers or trackers, it’s not a race. It’s a challenge that will bring your team closer together. We’ve seen teams of 17 year old aspiring swimmers with their 70 year old grandmothers. It’s about collectively raising money so that children with disabilities can learn a life-saving skill. It’s about swimming through sunset and cheering the sunrise together.
It’s about community, each team making their own adventure and creating memories for years to come. Click the big pink button below to find answers to your burning questions.
Captains sign up for free until the end of March 2025.
See you at the lake!
